Bharat made significant contributions to science and technology, including concepts of the atom which were explicitly mentioned in scriptures and integrated into the Sankhya and Vaiśeşika schools of thought. Indian philosophers possessed extensive knowledge of atomic physics, recognizing the smallest indivisible particle as "Paramāņu." Thinkers like Kanāda (6th century CE) and Pakudha Kātyāyana introduced various concepts and theories, precursor to the laws of motion and which have greatly enriched the field of physics.
